(NOTE: I have to alive with this because Duke Energy is my only source for electricity. I have no other choice.) For years now I have not understood my electric bills. I have always lived alone in my present home (a townhouse flanked on each side by other townhouses, mine being the smallest in my building) and take no guests staying, so I solitary control my electric usage. I am billed monthly. Duke Energy predicts my bills and sends me a usage study e-mail about mid-mode into each calendar month. Every month I endeavour to conserve more heavily after I receive their email (however, I always conserve) to try to go my pecker lower than their prediction... but it never happens. I fifty-fifty get what many people would probably consider overboard. I mainly cut my air or oestrus depending on the time of year. I also stay conscious of my usage of lights, and my laundry machines, which I use no more than 4 to 6 times a month anyway.
Most days I melt in one case or not at all, I seldom bake, and my dishwasher is used one time weekly. All the same, when I get my final beak it's ever a bit... or a LOT higher than Duke Energy's prediction. Also, I have lived in my dwelling for over 9 years and take only had a Christmas tree or used Christmas lights TWICE, (I am aware that the blazon of lights used present barely use any electricity anyway) only every December my electric beak is style higher than normal, no affair the weather condition. I too go emails telling me my electric usage is much higher than my neighbors, near of which have homes much larger than mine and more occupants. I don't understand whatever of this, and don't recollect it's correct... or fair.

For years, I have allowed Duke to direct draft my checking a/c to pay the pecker. They more or less pay themselves when they desire. They do ship me a pecker via email and I can log in if I experience like it to look at details which I rarely do. But the March nib had an expected amount, plus $14.26 in prior calendar month charges. Huh? So I do log in find the $fourteen.26 is a belatedly charge. After about ii hours and eight calls, mainly talking to a robot, I get a live person. Got cutting off the first live telephone call, so about 3 more and once again I get a alive person. Took forever for to look it upwardly (why exercise they even accept computers?) while I was on concur and feared cut off again. Yeah, finally the lady said, that was a tardily charge. I asked her how in the earth can Duke assess a late charge when they control when the beak is paid? Hem Haw, yessir, we will credit that back.
About 10 days later, received a credit from Duke in my checking a/c for $vi and so this is probably non over. Their IT group must be a bunch of rank amateurs. System down for days, I must have received 20 emails/letters well-nigh change in billing system. Terminal point, but how many people did Duke cheat like this. Not everyone pays attention. In fact, fashion to few pay attention. Was it 1,000, 10,000 or 100,000 people they cheated?

Chosen on Friday afternoon to get my electricity installed, from 7am to 12pm I spoke with 3 different agents. All whom asked me the aforementioned questions as the person before and all who ran my credit report 3 separate times. Quoted three different prices on deposits on each call, all getting college than the previous one. In one case I was set they told me it would take ane-3 business organisation days for Duke Energy to come up out and install a meter. When I happened to call back on Monday to get my installation fee reduced with a meter number, they happen to inquire me if I had already scheduled an inspection earlier knuckles free energy showed up. Giving me the wrong county number to call. Duke energy has been nothing merely a hurting, they don't communicate with 1 some other and don't allow the client know anything until it's too tardily. Now I'm having to extend opening up my business organization another week or so.

I moved out of my apartment in Baronial of 2021. I took all appropriate steps to close my account including giving a forwarding accost. Yet, i.5 YEARS afterwards I get a pecker from a collections bureau. I checked back through phone records and emails to see if I had missed something. I didn't. No phone phone call and no e-mail. I checked with the owner of my forwarding address to come across if I had received any postal service from Duke Free energy. I had not. I at present have a huge ding in my credit score for 7 years for failing to pay a bill that I had no idea existed.

Got billed for an extra calendar month afterward our lease was up even though we called to give our concluding mean solar day at the apartment. Someone took info and said nosotros were good and service would be cancelled. One month afterward moving out we got another neb for over $50. Called customer service and was told there was no tape of the states canceling because they got a new computer arrangement. Looks like our info was lost while they transferred to a new system or someone didn't do their task and did non cancel service every bit requested. Called numerous times to prepare trouble simply go the run around. They are threatening to turn our power off at our new location if nosotros don't pay when non living at flat. Practise they actually call up we would not call to discontinue services when moving out? Instead of fixing the trouble we get threats. Worst customer service always. We were warned about them while moving here. They accept lived up to their terrible reputation.

Duke Free energy sucks!! Overpriced too damn big for their britches and simply doesn't requite a ** about people..just their profits. Service sucks ..Power outages at 96th and Mollenkopf ALL the damn time with only excuse after excuse equally to why. Hmmm perhaps considering your employees graduated from Idiots University. Selfish, shady, greedy. Yous know what's with crappy service. And we're just stuck with their sorry ** because zip will be done well-nigh them. Looked into!!! We merely get to complain on sites like this to get your frustrations out over an incredibly huge visitor who gets to screw people over in whatever mode they see fit.. BTW DUKE.... I'one thousand freezing correct now because of another one of your outages. Thanks for nothing!!! Recollect you might want to actually set the problem this time?? How nice that would be!!

Electric cost went upwards from 1.83 kw to 1.96 KW. Natural gas cost went up 2.97 to 3.68 per CCF. Bill has doubled! Never been this high and Duke will non offer an explanation other than the cost went up (even though usage went down). Condominium owner. Paid bills in full for 7 yrs. Not eligible for efficiency programs as I practise not ain a unmarried family home. Not eligible for share the lite fund as income is over the guidelines. Not willing to put on budget billing until bill is paid in full (requiring me to telephone call back over again and hold 30+min, expect for enrollment to be available Apr 6 7am) and cannot complete the program before information technology closes March 1 because and so Duke systems will be downwards for maintenance and obtaining a new arrangement.
Paperless billing requires user to login and view bill just there are no articulate inserts on WHY usage fees increased for natural gas. No alternatives for providers. No selection for solar with condo complex. No style to choose suppliers for free energy in Kentucky. I would recommend making sure you take an alternative wherever y'all live! My only option is moving.
